Full Moon Fort Update
Due to expected dangerous temperatures and icy conditions at the Fort this weekend, we reluctantly and regrettably are canceling Full Moon Fort this year. All paid reservations will be refunded. We apologize for this disappointing news!
ABOUT Full Moon Fort at Fort Phil Kearny
SORRY THIS EVENT IS CANCELED THIS YEAR DUE TO WEATHER.
Guided lantern tours are back for the 7th Annual Event at Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site on the evenings of October 11 and 12, 2019 from 7-10 p.m. This year, tour groups will be capped at 40 people and reservations are strongly suggested in order to guarantee a tour. Stories will reflect the grisly details of fort life, including real characters at Fort Phil Kearny during the time of Red Cloud’s War against the Bozeman Trail Forts.
“The event has been a total hit. People come from all over the state, so we’ve improved how it’s organized,” says Misty Stoll, Superintendent of Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site. “And of course you can’t beat the power of the fort campus in the full moon. It’s a spooky place.”
Cost is $10/person for ages 16 and up. Ages 15 and under are free, but do require a ticket. Pending availability, tickets may be sold on the day of the event by calling ahead.
Stoll says tour times fill up fast, so if you plan to attend or have a large group, be sure to book early.
All visitors are reminded to dress warmly for the outdoor tours. In cases of dangerously cold or wet conditions, the event will be canceled. For announcements and more information visit Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site on Facebook or on this website.
Full refund will be given in case of weather cancellation.
